Croton flavens could easily be mistaken for a variable leaf of Croton linearis but it is not, it is monoecious, male and female flowers are found on the same plant. Here you see the male inflorescence at the top and female at the base where you see fruits.

This dioecious Jamaican specimen of Croton linearis seen below also has large leave.

Distribution; GC, otherwise Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico

Habitat; Rocky thickets and woodland

Status; Very rare, New record 2003

Notes; Horticulture potential; This is a medium size tree is a lovely addition to any landscaping.
