Cestrum diurnum var. venenatum has black berries with a short peduncle of 0.5 - 1 cm long.
Cestrum diurnum var. marcianum has purple berries and a long peduncle of 2.5 - 5 cm long.

Notes; Horticulture potential; This 10' to 12' small tree is drought and salt tolerant, it is well suited for ocean front landscape but the short peduncle is not showing off the fragant blooms very well, Cestrum diurnum var. marcianum is more showy.
